Meet your marketing managed team

Bertie Bear
Chief Woof Officer (CWO)

"The Pawsitive Influencer"

Bertie Bear is Chief Woof Officer at Marketing Managed, where his mission is to keep spirits high and tails wagging. Every day, he is on video calls and makes sure everyone feels right at home. He patrols the office for unattended snacks and morale risks, schedules regular movement breaks to keep energy and focus strong, and provides on-demand stress relief support during busy delivery periods. Bertie also oversees quality control on any floor-based activities, especially anything involving food.

Bertie brings expert-level emotional intelligence to his role. He reads the room quickly, knows when a break is due, and listens with unwavering presence. A natural routine builder, he reinforces consistency through daily habits and timely reminders. His presence instantly improves the atmosphere in meetings and work sessions.

Bertie enjoys client interaction, especially first introductions and end-of-project celebrations. He thrives on supporting the team when deadlines are tight and the pace ramps up, and he always nudges everyone toward the most important daily priority: a proper break.

Bertie recently launched his own personal LinkedIn account, and he has been getting lots of love from professionals and dog lovers alike. His updates capture his antics, workplace morale moments, and occasional wisdom on staying balanced in busy work weeks.

When he is off duty, Bertie’s main love language is snacks. If you ever visit Marketing Managed, he will remember you, especially if you arrive with treats, kind words, or both.

Phil Bacon
CMO/COO & Consultant

"The Fixer"

As Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Operating Officer and founder of Marketing Managed, Philip is responsible for setting the overall marketing strategy, shaping our productised service offering and ensuring everything joins up operationally. His day typically blends client advisory work, campaign and channel planning and overseeing how our systems, data and processes fit together. He works closely with clients on systems, positioning, demand generation and go-to-market plans, while also leading internal operations so projects, people and martech all run as a single, joined-up engine.

Philip draws heavily on his experience in B2B marketing for technology and engineering-led manufacturers and his background in engineering, where complex products and long sales cycles are the norm. He combines strategic planning, revenue operations thinking and hands-on experience with CRM, automation and analytics platforms. He is deeply framework-driven, drawing on structured methodologies such as the Potato Marketing Method, which he created, and joined-up marketing systems audits to turn messy situations into clear priorities, plans and playbooks.

Philip’s favourite part of the job is helping leadership teams make sense of their marketing and sales landscape and turn it into a practical growth plan. He enjoys the strategy work that links directly to commercial outcomes and thrives on collaborating with clients to align their systems, data and channels. Internally, he gets a lot of satisfaction from building repeatable processes, supporting the team and seeing campaigns move from idea to measurable impact.

Philip is a trying-to-retire DJ, aspiring chef and a self-confessed marketing systems geek who is regularly invited to judge industry awards, including those focused on digital strategy and the use of AI in marketing. When he is not working on client campaigns or new tools like Content Roulette and the Content Resonance Index, he can usually be found experimenting with the latest martech, refining frameworks or sharing practical insights with other marketers and founders. He also hosts Marketing Fails, the podcast about marketing fails. His book The Potato Of Marketing, a marketing success framework, is coming soon.

David Morley
Managing Director / NED

"The Balanced Adviser"

David Morley plays a key support role at Marketing Managed, acting as a trusted resource for the team whenever they are facing challenges or decisions within the business. His principal focus is on listening closely, offering thoughtful advice and providing impartial, unbiased support that helps people think through issues clearly and confidently.

In his non-executive capacity, David works closely with Philip to provide a fresh viewpoint on business challenges and support the future strategic development of Marketing Managed. He also contributes to recruitment policy, bringing a different perspective to the hiring process and helping the team build strong, capable talent as the agency grows.

Outside of his work with the team, David shares a passion for all things automotive with Philip. He has extensive experience in automotive marketing and motorsport, and proudly calls himself a total petrolhead. In his personal time, David enjoys trying to play golf, watching his grandchildren grow up, and staying connected with the fast-moving world of cars and racing.

Joel Atkinson
Marketing Strategist and Manager

"The Strategist"

Joel is our Marketing Strategist and Manager, responsible for designing and implementing marketing strategies for our clients and for our own agency.

Over the last decade, Joel has founded and run two businesses, earned a 91 per cent grade MBA from a highly competitive university and worked as a Growth Advisor for more than 100 startup teams. He has spent recent years mastering content marketing. These experiences have equipped him with the skills he needs to build high-performing marketing strategies for our clients.

Joel’s favourite part of the day is analytics. He enjoys uncovering the exact formula that makes a campaign successful or identifying why something has not gone to plan. This analytical focus motivates him to push for better results. He also loves working on projects where he gets to collaborate on podcasts or YouTube channels for clients.

Outside work, Joel is obsessed with fitness and has tracked nearly every calorie he has eaten in the last six years. As a result, he can now estimate the macronutrient breakdown of any meal with surprising accuracy.

Liv Cawthorn
SEO Specialist

"The Search Genie"

Liv is our dedicated SEO Specialist at Marketing Managed, where she manages and oversees SEO campaigns to help clients improve visibility, rankings and performance. Day to day, Liv develops and refines SEO strategy, carries out regular performance analysis, plans and coordinates content with the team, organises link-building and ensures the overall technical health of each website is maintained. She also monitors rankings, traffic, AI trends and general performance indicators to make sure campaigns are consistently moving in the right direction.

Liv draws on a growing range of skills she has developed in her current role. While she has worked briefly for a wedding planning agency earlier in her career, most of her SEO expertise comes from hands-on experience managing campaigns. A key strength is prioritising her time effectively, coupled with experience in operations management to keep work flowing smoothly and deadlines on track. Liv also values accountability and transparency, which she sees as essential for strong client relationships and satisfaction.

What Liv enjoys most about her work is the strategic and creative side of SEO—thinking through how to approach a campaign, identifying opportunities and finding ways to improve performance. She also genuinely enjoys client communication and collaborating with the team on ideas and solutions.

Outside of work, Liv is passionate about outdoor activities. She loves mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding and surfing, basically anything active and outdoors.

Maryem Asim
Executive Assistant to Phil

"The Idea Amplifier"

Maryem works as the Executive Assistant to Phil. Her day-to-day responsibilities include managing his diary and inbox, handling bookkeeping, writing and editing content, managing social media, overseeing his LinkedIn account, coordinating with the team and supporting him with any tasks that arise throughout the day.

Maryem has a strong background in administration, HR and operations, which forms the foundation of her role. Over the past three years, she has also developed a solid grip on social media management for multiple companies. With guidance from Phil, she has strengthened her skills in SEO and content writing and editing. Maryem now works confidently across blogs, graphics, social posts, case studies, Google Search Console and Google Business Profile.

One highlight for Maryem has been completing the target of 50 blogs. Maryem and Phil worked on this project for nearly four months, and each blog involved extensive research as well as Phil’s unique, personal Q&A contributions (written by him, not AI), which made the content feel truly authentic. Seeing all the blogs fully completed, designed with graphics and scheduled across platforms was a real achievement. This project sparked a genuine interest in content-focused work for her and added another valuable skill to her growing toolkit.

Outside of work, Maryem loves horse riding and takes classes every weekend. She also didn’t use to enjoy graphic work, but through the creative opportunities at Marketing Managed, she has grown to really enjoy it and is now taking a course to develop that skill further. Maryem once found LinkedIn difficult and a bit boring, but since joining Marketing Managed, she has worked on her own presence and gained more than 500 connections and followers.

Ayesha Imtiaz
Executive Assistant

"The Workflow Wizard"

Ayesha supports the day-to-day operations at Marketing Managed by working closely with leadership and clients to keep projects running smoothly. Her role spans campaign coordination, CRM and automation management, inbox and lead monitoring, workflow execution, content and funnel support, and ensuring tasks across platforms like Success.ai, Lemlist, Zoho, GoHighLevel and Meet Alfred are executed and tracked efficiently. She also assists with podcast editing and coordination, campaign reporting and cross-team communication to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.

Ayesha brings a strong background as an executive assistant, with operational structure, technical adaptability and attention to detail. She draws heavily on her experience in client operations, marketing systems, process documentation, automation logic and platform-based execution. Her strength is quickly understanding new tools and workflows and turning strategy into clear, actionable steps.

Ayesha loves being involved in the creative side of execution — taking ideas, shaping them and bringing them to life. She enjoys working across different areas rather than being limited to one lane, including editing, writing, building workflows and supporting social media and campaigns. Having variety in her work and seeing ideas come together is what keeps her motivated.

When she’s not organising campaigns or workflows, Ayesha can usually be found with a book in hand or indulging her love for pasta, ideally both in the same evening.
